Tips for Dressing a Plus-Size Groom
Big and tall, husky, or plus-sized, finding clothes as a larger person can be very difficult. A plus-sized groom may run into some issues, just like a bride, when shopping for his big day. There is nothing more frustrating than having to go above and beyond just to find clothing that fits right. However, we are here to help!
Here are some helpful tips;
Proper fittings
As with all grooms, to look your best for your big day, it is important to be properly fitted for your wedding tuxedo or suit. An ill-fitted outfit can make you more self-conscious and uncomfortable. When you look good, you feel good! Remember to dress your size – it may be tempting to buy “larger” clothes, but that can be less flattering.
Most retailers suggest getting fitted for your tuxedo or suit 10-12 weeks before the wedding. This leaves enough time for accurate measurements, ordering the suit, and any last-minute alterations that need to be done. You may even want to search for retailers that cater specifically to big and tall men. They often times can offer advice on what looks best.

Colors, Patterns, and Accessories
There are some colors and patterns that may work better on plus-sized grooms than others. Darker colors and patterns such as paisley, light stripes, or subtle dots will make you look awesome! If you decide to wear stripes, vertical ones can elongate and flatter the body rather than horizontal. Please note that this is just a helpful tip. Yes, men’s shapewear does exist and can help! When searching for shapewear, it is important to stick to your size. It may seem more logical to get a size smaller that will “suck more in,” but that is not the case. In fact, it can be harmful to your body and make you very uncomfortable. You also want to choose shapewear with cotton-blend because they are breathable and keep you cool. You can invest in high-waist shapewear to tone your torso or full-body shapewear for all-over shaping. Although certainly not required, men’s shapewear can help you get the look you want on your wedding day!
Confidence
No matter what size you are, nothing makes you look better than confidence! A smile and self-esteem can go a long way. Loving yourself and the skin you’re in starts from the inside. Remember that the big day is about marrying the love of your life! Confidence is key when wanting to look your best.
