Today’s Real Wedding is a real treat — and it might melt your heart! Kelsey and Kyle met in high school as co-workers at Dairy Queen. What started out as friendship turned into love as the years went by. So, on July 7, 2020, these two sweethearts celebrated their love with the theme “Just Us” — their wedding colors were their favorite colors, their wedding song their favorite band, their location their hometown, and their flowers the first flowers he ever gave her. Take a look!
Getting Ready
Kyle’s first look
Sentimental and sweet: The couple paid tribute to the spot where they first met with Kelsey’s dress reveal at their local Dairy Queen. The ice cream toast is the cherry on top!
A Surprise Proposal: On a Monday evening like any other, Kelsey and Kyle took their daily walk through the neighborhood with their dog. As they walked along the pond, Kyle suddenly dropped the leash, sending Kelsey into a frenzy as the water-loving pup jumped in for a swim. As she turned around in the craziness, there was Kyle on bended knee. After nearly eight years with Kyle, Kelsey suspected a proposal was coming. It was almost impossible to catch her off guard! But Kyle knows Kelsey well, and in the flurry of excitement he caught her completely by surprise.
The Ceremony
Kelsey wore the Hayley Paige ‘Reece’ gown. It featured an intricate sequin pattern with a mermaid silhouette and a sweetheart neckline. But where did she ‘Say Yes to the Dress?’ At the one-and-only Kleinfeld Bridal, of course! The bridesmaids donned the ‘Charlize’ gowns from Azazie in color ‘Sky Blue.’ The men sported selections from Men’s Wearhouse. All of the accents, from the bridesmaids’ dresses and bouquets to the men’s ties and boutonnieres, were peachy orange and sky blue — his and her favorite colors.
The Reception
What’s with the wristbands? The bride and groom wanted to make their guests feel as comfortable as possible during their reception, so they devised this colored system for people to label their own level of comfort: hugs & high fives, talk but don’t touch, and keeping distanced.
Advice from the bride: “I see so many couples upset they are postponing their marriage because of COVID. This isn’t about the party, it’s about marrying your person. No pandemic can or should stop that. We had a small ceremony at my parents house on our original date [and postponed our reception a few months], because we refused to let COVID stop our marriage. Postpone the party — not the marriage.”
