AUBRI & MATT’S REAL WEDDING | AKRON, OHIO

From the enchanted gardens of the Stan Hywet mansion to the modern masterpieces at the Akron Art Museum, Aubri and Matt’s special day was nothing short of magical. Scroll down to view our favorite pictures from their fairytale wedding.

HOW THEY MET

Aubri and Matt met in high school and reconnected in college while Matt was visiting two of his best friends at Ohio State. Aubri, who also attended Ohio State, asked if he would go out to eat with her that weekend to catch up. He agreed, and the rest is history.

THEIR ENGAGEMENT STORY

Aubri and Matt live in Boston, and every winter they go to the Boston Ballet’s “The Nutcracker.” Matt told Aubri he bought tickets for the ballet on December 7, 2018, but unknowingly to her, he actually had a different plan up his sleeve. The evening of The Nutcracker, Matt talked Aubri into grabbing dinner and drinks beforehand. Even though it was a cold winter evening, they decided to walk down the Commonwealth Mall to enjoy the beautiful bistro lights along the trees. “It’s a gorgeous walk on a winter night,” Aubri said. As they made their way down the street, Matt stopped walking all of a sudden, and Aubri heard a camera clicking behind her. He proposed right there! “It was so special and thoughtful,” Aubri said. “He made sure our parents were celebrating together back home in Akron with champagne when we FaceTimed them.” Aubri and Matt celebrated their engagement at “Top of the Hub” in Boston. Even though they never made it to The Nutcracker that year, it turns out getting engaged makes for a pretty memorable evening!

Aubri wore a Jenny Yoo Octavia gown. Her dress, along with the bridesmaids’ dresses, were purchased from BHLDN. The men wore suits from Menguin.

DETAILS

Paired with the concrete architecture of the Akron Art Museum, Aubri and Matt brought their modern vision to life by using clear Chiavari chairs, frosted acrylic signage with white hand-lettering, and crisp white tablecloths. Their colors were gray, white, silver, gold, and green.
