You know we’re all about that lace
(’bout that lace, no trouble) ♩ ♪ ♫ ♬
Lace has been around since well before our time – before the 13th century to be more specific – and it’s been a staple in the wedding industry for as long as we can remember. (But yes, Princess Kate’s Alexander McQueen dress certainly did help this delicate fabric make its reemergence!)
Not that it’s too difficult to see why. Lace is the ultimate sign of timelessness and femininity. It’s quite possible that nothing will add instant elegance to your wedding celebration as quick as the perfect lace details.
And we’re thrilled to say that as far as weddings go, lace is no longer limited to just bridal attire; you can find it adorning bouquets, vases, stationery and everything in between.
Here are some of our favorite ways brides are using lovely lace details:
One quick “lace wedding cake” Google search will yield nearly 5.5 million results – so we think it’s safe to say this is a popular option for brides – and for a good reason! These ultra-feminine confectionaries are just as much a treat for the eyes as they are in the stomach.
And there are some ways your baker might incorporate lace details for your creations. For example, they might keep it clean and simple with some lace pipework and add real flowers for an extra romantic touch; or they could choose to create a lace-like effect on your cake by using intricate fondant cut-outs or tiers.
It’s a well-known fact that every girl loves to accessorize in some way, shape or form. And a unique lace headpiece or a rhinestone and lace headband? Definite “I do’s” for any bride! Or, as a particularly stylish bride, you might think about incorporating lace into your nail art for the day.
Looking for a little extra touch of romantic whimsy? Stay in the shade a romantic lace umbrella. (Um, hello, can you imagine how gorgeous those pictures will turn out?)
You might even choose to do this romantic detail on your feet with gorgeous lace-covered pumped or comfier dance-all-night shoes like lace Toms.
Adding lace to an already-romantic floral bouquet is a super sweet touch many brides can’t resist. Want to make it even sweeter? Try using lace fabric from your mother’s wedding gown or your grandmother’s lace hankie – not only will this look amazing, but it’s also the perfect way to honor a family member!
While there are virtually endless ways of incorporating lace into your wedding décor, we’ll focus on breaking down a few of our favorites. One of the easiest – and most impactful – ways to include this delicate detail is through your linens. Whether you opt for full table coverings or romantic lace runners, lace linens are sure to capture your guests’ attention. If you’re looking for a more subtle approach to your lace linens, consider adding them to your sweetheart or head table only.
Another popular option for bringing lace to your tables is to wrap lace trim around your centerpiece vases. Can you imagine a perfect touch for a vintage or rustic celebration?
And finally, consider the fact that even your lighting can embrace lace! Just thinking about lace-inspired chandelier lighting or hanging lanterns makes our wedding senses tingle.
So now that you know all these ways to include this ever-so-delicate fabric, we encourage you to go out and dig up all the lace details your heart desires. (Be sure not to go overboard when putting together your decor – sometimes the most powerful statements are the simplest ones!) Surely this excellent detail will remind you of days gone by, while also offering a modern romance to your celebration that is unparalleled.
