Your Must-Have Honeymoon Packing List
Chances are you’ve been stressing about the last-minute details of the wedding for weeks. And under all that pressure, your mind goes blank when it comes time to start packing for the honeymoon! Don’t worry, you’ll get it all under control and pack everything you need as long as you follow these tips and packing guide!

No matter where you’re going, you’re definitely going to need some important documents. These are your must-have items:
- Proper identification, driver’s license, passports and/or visas
- Airline tickets (if traveling by plane)
- Credit cards
- Hotel/Resort reservation confirmations
- Any prescription medication you’re taking
- Phone numbers for doctor, house sitter/family member/close friend, credit card company
Now for the fun part of the honeymoon! No matter where your destination spot is, it’s likely that you’re going to need the following:
- A pair of sandals or flip-flops
- 2+ pairs of shorts
- 1+ pair of jeans
- 2+ swimsuits if you’re going somewhere with water! (bikini to lounge/swim in, one-piece for any water sports or underwater exploring)
- A few tank tops and T-shirts
- A light-weight jacket
- Hat
- Sunglasses
- Bras (we recommend a sports bra if you’re doing anything adventurous)
- Running/hiking shoes
- 2 dresses, one cocktail and one sundress
- Heels/dress flats or sandals
- Strapless bra & seamless underwear
- An evening bag
- Socks
- Extra underwear
- Toothbrush and toothpaste (travel sizes are great for this)
- Razors, shaving cream
- Hairbrush, comb, hair ties & headbands
- Soaps, shampoo & conditioners (not all hotels provide these, so you may want to check first)
- Sunblock & aloe vera
- Band-Aids! (If you can get a basic first aid kit to fit, you should definitely put it in)
- Aspirin
- Motion sickness medicine
- Antacids
- Antibacterial lotion
- Extra glasses or contacts and contact solution (if applicable)
- Emergency cash
- A large tote bag (it’s helpful for bringing souvenirs home!)
- Feminine Hygiene products (Bring these just in case of emergency, especially if traveling out of the U.S. because they can be very difficult to find)
- Travel/Shopping guide
- Electrical converter (definitely important if you are going out of the U.S.)
- Cameras with extra batteries, film or memory cards
- Chargers for all electronics you’re bringing
You wouldn’t believe it, but a lot of people forget the most basic necessities. While most resort and vacation spots will have these items for you to purchase, they can be very expensive — so you’re much better off checking them off your packing list.
When it comes to accessories, depending on where you are going, you may want to limit your choice of bling, including your wedding rings. We know you want to show them off to the whole world, but sometimes a hike, run, water sports or just exploring may not be the safest option. Only bring what you need to complete an outfit.
And we know that while you’re going to have a blast during the daylight hours on your vacation, don’t forget to pack what you’ll need for those romantic nights. Every bride has her own style and taste, but don’t hesitate to pack lingerie or any other special items you received at your bridal shower. Also, if you want to keep your family size as two, bring the proper contraceptives (especially because they aren’t available everywhere or may be highly expensive).
Not only is what you take with you important, but it is also important what you leave behind. In the case of an emergency, you’re definitely going to want to leave some important information at home with a close family member or friend. Leave them with these:
- Rough Itinerary (if you have one)
- Hotel phone number and address, as well as the date and time of your stay
- Copies of driver’s licenses & passports
- Sealed copies of life insurance information and wills
Wherever you go, you’re definitely going to want to be prepared for anything and everything. If you’re going out of the country, don’t forget to make sure you have the proper shots you will need to travel to certain areas. You can avoid the disaster of having lost luggage by dividing your clothing into two suitcases, half and half for each or bring an extra outfit in your carry on bag. You can maximize space in your suitcase by rolling all of your clothing, stuffing socks in your shoes and putting smaller items like toiletries in clear plastic bags. You definitely want to make sure that you check with your airline carrier about any luggage rules or guidelines they have before you pack. Lastly, if you do happen to forget something, don’t make a big deal about it. It’s your honeymoon, relax and have fun with your loved one!
