Cleveland Couples Bucket List
As your wedding date draws ever closer and the stress of making sure all of the final details are in place weighs on your shoulders, you may realize that you are actually seeing less of your fiance than you did before you were engaged.
These months leading up to your big day go by so fast; you don’t want to look back and regret not enjoying your final moments of being engaged. We’ve created a way to help you live in the moment and enjoy these upcoming months with your fiance. Here’s our bucket list of 10 Cleveland Events to check out before your nuptials.
- Train for the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon This activity is the first on the list because it is time sensitive. The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon takes place on Saturday, May 14th and Sunday, May 15th. Though most people train for marathons for months in advance, there is no better way to motivate yourself than training with your fiance. Not only can you push either other to work a little harder, but a little healthy competition never hurts, either! An added bonus: you can make sure your body is in shape for your wedding day! Register for the race here. If you want to get fit together, but don’t have time to train for a marathon, no worries! Check out our blog on Pre- Wedding Workouts.
2. Perform Poetry Together at Open Mic Night What more perfect way to practice those writing skills for your vows than to perform at an Open Mic Night? Whether you decide to collaborate and perform together or decide to go solo, this is a romantic way to spend the evening together. Plus, if you’re not used to speaking in front of 100 of your closest friends and family members, this is a great way to loosen up. The Barking Tavern is a renovated carriage house, and truly a hidden gem as it sits behind the Alumni House off of Juniper Road. They have open mic nights the first and third Sunday of every month, so it gives you plenty of time to rehearse those verses.
3. Witness the Burning of the River The Burning River Foundation has been setting the Cuyahoga River aflame since 2001, honoring the 1969 burning of the river and paying tribute to how far our eco-consciousness has come. With over 15 bands, chef demonstrations, and beer tastings with Great Lakes Brewing Company, supporting this cause could not be more enjoyable. Visit Whiskey Island this year on August 28th and 29th to experience this incredible festival, and have access to breathtaking views of Cleveland’s Skyline.
4. Visit the Roller Coaster Capital of the World When you live in or near Cleveland, it is a sin not to visit Cedar Pointe. With a water park, a dinosaur exhibit, dining hall, live entertainment, and over 22 roller coasters, this amusement park is a must for thrill-seeking and water-loving couples alike. Providing all day entertainment for only $39 a ticket, make sure to schedule time in to visit Cedar Pointe.
5. Take A Cooking Class Who says the wife should do all the cooking? Join the Supper Club at Gatherings Kitchen on a Friday night to learn how to make (and eat!) a gourmet four course meal for only $75! This is a great way to get ideas for your menu that mean more than a chicken breast because you two made it together. Our Pinterest has other ways to get creative with your menu, too. Just don’t start any food fights…
6. Blow Glass Art Though this activity on our bucket list is a bit more costly at $125 per person, with The Glass Bubble Project you and your loved one will make three one-of-a-kind, hand-blown by you, glass pieces each. Unique unto themselves, these pieces will step-up your home decor, and are undoubtedly better than the embroidered pillow your great aunt will gift you.
7. Witness the Weiner Dog Races at Oktoberfest You don’t need to own a daschund to enjoy this event, though it wouldn’t hurt. Embrace the cuteness overload as puppies, adult, and senior weiner dogs race to the finish line in adorable costumes. Races will be held on September 5th-7th at 1pm, 2pm, 4pm, and 5pm, and the ever-important costume contest will be held at 3pm every day. Awards go out to the winner of each heat, the best dressed, and the overall champion, and owners are offered free admission when they bring along a daschund. Click here to read more.
8. Take Salsa dance classes Hit up Viva Dance Studio any Thursday night for their Sizzling Salsa dance party! Admission is only $5, and a 45 minute class is offered immediately beforehand for beginners for an extra $5. You’ll knock your wedding guests off their feet when you break out your newfound Salsa, Mamba, or Cha Cha moves on the dance floor. You’ll take the Cha Cha slide to a whole new level!
9. Take a Carriage Ride during WinterFest There are way too many events going on in Downtown Cleveland during Winterfest (make sure not to miss the lighting of downtown, stop by the Christmas Story House, and check out the Winter Wine and Ale fest), but nothing beats snuggling up to your significant other as the snow softly falls around you in a carriage ride. The best part? It’s free!
10. Attend a Today’s Bride Bridal Show Your planning should include your fiance, too! If you feel that you’re not seeing him or her enough, try incorporating their opinions into your planning checklist. A great way to do this is by attending a Today’s Bride Bridal show together to get ideas, meet with potential vendors, and share your vision and opinions with each other. Plus, fiance’s get in free! Check out our list of upcoming shows.
Cleveland is for lovers! There are so many things for couples to do together before their nuptials. When you’ve finished this list, don’t stop there! Whether you decide to have a date night every week or to take random adventures when you’re feeling daring, always make the best of every moment you spend with your loved one.
