Must-Have Wedding Photos
You will be so busy enjoying your wedding festivities that photography may be the last thing on your mind. That’s why hiring a professional photographer is so important. They’ll make sure to capture all of the moments that you’ll want to relive over and over again.
The Reaction
Whether you do a first look shoot or save the grand reveal for the aisle, capturing a photo of your soon-to-be-spouse’s reaction to seeing you is a must. This priceless moment is one you definitely won’t want to forget.
That being said, if you don’t have a first look, a photo of you holding hands on either side of a wall, passing love letters to each other, or kissing blindfolded is a sweet way to remember the anticipation of that first sight for years to come.
If you don’t have a first look with your fiance, consider having one with your family or friends! Be sure to have your photographer capture your dad’s face and your bridesmaids screaming.
The Wedding Party
An all-out photo shoot with your favorite girls is an absolute must! Make sure to schedule plenty of time for these photos as you’ll probably end up having way too much fun making silly faces and striking fun poses.
Similarly, the groom and groomsmen should also have time to capture formal and silly photos. Ripping open their button downs to reveal superhero shirts underneath, squealing over the wedding band, or showing off their goofy socks are some of our favorite shots.
While the Team Bride and Team Groom photos are a great time capturing the spirit of friendship, you can still have fun when taking the entire wedding party shots, too! Just make sure you get at least one photo of everyone standing nicely and smiling.

Having Fun
Typically, dancing takes up the majority of your wedding reception. It would be a shame not to capture you and your guests enjoying themselves and having a great time!
The “getting ready” shots are great candids to have in your album because they truly capture the emotions of everyone in the wedding party as the excitement and anticipation of the day builds.
Details
You’ll definitely want to make sure your photographer knows to capture the details of your wedding ceremony and reception, too. Centerpieces, favors, table numbers, dessert options, ceremony programs, decor, and food are details that you may end up forgetting in 10-20 years. You’ll want to flip through your wedding album and remember all of the effort you put into making your special day absolutely perfect, and the details are a huge part of that.
When you’re printing off and sending out your invitations, be sure to keep one extra suite for your photographer to capture on the day of your wedding.
