Father-Daughter Dance Songs
You may have found the love of your life, but it’s no secret that you’ll always be daddy’s little girl. After all, he’s the first man you ever loved! With Father’s day around the corner, you are thinking about how your dad helped raised you more than ever. It’s time to start thinking about one of the most important moments of your wedding–The father-daughter dance!
Oldies but Goodies
While these hits used to be popular choices for father-daughter songs, they’ve fallen out of the wedding scene in the past few years. There is a reason they will not go away! The lyrics are full of meaning and sung from the heart, which makes these songs the perfect choice to dance to with your dad.
My Little Girl – Tim McGraw
Our favorite line: “Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand. But I won’t say “yes” to him unless I know, he’s the half that makes you whole.”
Isn’t She Lovely – Stevie Wonder
Our favorite line: “Isn’t she pretty? Truly the angel’s best. Boy, I’m so happy; we have been heaven blessed.”
If I Could – Ray Charles
Our favorite line: “I’ve watched you grow, so I could let you go…If I could.”
Favorites
We won’t deny it. These next songs are popular hits, and a little overplayed at weddings, but we can’t get enough! The lyrics are beautiful, the rhythm is magical, the emotion is perfect. These next two songs were just made with weddings in mind.
I Loved Her First – Heartland
Our favorite line: “And I prayed that she’d find you someday, but it’s still hard to give her away. I loved her first.”

The Girl You Think I Am – Carrie Underwood
Our favorite line (we couldn’t limit it to just one line): “I thank God for a father’s love, ’cause you think I’m brave, and you think I’m beautiful. You think that I can do the impossible. You always see the best in me when I can’t. I wanna be the girl you think I am.”
Daddy Artist – Beyonce
Our favorite line: “I want my husband to be like my daddy. There is no one else like my daddy, and I thank you (thank you) for lovin’ me.”
Butterfly Fly Away – Miley Cyrus
Our favorite line: “You tucked me in, turned out the light, kept me safe and sound at night. Little girls depend on things like that.”

My Girl – The Temptations
Our favorite line: “I’ve got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees. Well, I guess you’d say, ‘What can make me feel this way?’ My girl.”
I Will Walk With You – John Fogerty
Our favorite line: “No matter what you do, come what may, I will walk with you.”
Daughter – Loudon Wainwright
Our favorite line: “That’s my daughter in the water, every time she fell I caught her. Every time she fell.”

When my daughter and I danced our father daughter dance we used “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” from Toy Story. It had many special meanings for us and it felt perfect.
