8 Date Night Ideas for Valentine’s Day
Wedding planning can get extremely stressful and overwhelming. Oftentimes, you forget that it’s meant to celebrate the love you’ve found with your fiance! Take some time this Valentine’s Day to spend together with these 8 date night ideas.
1. Go tobogganing, sledding, or ice skating
Snow isn’t always terrible. You can warm up a cold day by going tobogganing, ice skating, or good old fashioned sledding! There will be lots of laughter, hand holding, and playfulness. Afterward, you can grab a dinner nearby, or stop for hot cocoa by the warm fire!
2. Dinner and Karaoke
A twist on the classic dinner and a movie, this date night is nothing like your mom and dad’s! Catch dinner at the hip new bar everyone’s raving about or hit up your favorite diner. Then finish the night with karaoke, open mic night, or dancing! It’s a great way to meet new people, find your first dance song, and sing the Taylor Swift/Shawn Mendes version of Lover!
3. Spend the Weekend Away
Take a long weekend to getaway and spend together! You can book spa treatments or just catch up on your favorite movies. Go hiking or spend hours talking. Check out one of these spots for the perfect getaway destination: The Lodge at Geneva, Gervasi Vineyards, Landoll’s Mohican Castle, Buccia Winery and Bed & Breakfast, or The Mohicans Treehouse Resort! You’ll have lots of time to reminisce about old memories while creating new ones!
4. Take the Cuyahoga Valley Train
The Cuyahoga Valley train has gorgeous views this time of year! Just imagine passing the snow frosted trees and blanketed terrain – snow is always more beautiful when you’re warm and inside. You can taste different wines and beers while nibbling chef-made cuisine, hop on and off to view the surroundings and find your new favorite haunts, or even rent your own private car! Bring a blanket to snuggle up in and don’t forget your camera for a romantic, adventurous day.
5. Go to a Concert, Theater Performance, or Game
Whether planned in advance or spontaneous, a night out at the theater, music hall, or arena is one to remember! Get all dressed up at separate places to increase the anticipation and excitement of the night. Meeting up at the venue will create a first-date-like suspense that will make the night all the more special! See who’s playing at the House of Blues, Agora, or Playhouse Square, or attend a Cavs game; Enjoy your local high school’s hockey game or stop by a coffee shop to see a live band play!
6. Volunteer
Spread the love you’ve found with your fiance by volunteering your time! This one may take a bit of pre-planning. Search for events going on near you, volunteer at a soup kitchen or food pantry, walk dogs, or start a volunteer relationship with a non-profit like the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo or Make-A-Wish program! Not only will you have fun and meet new people, but you’ll leave feeling great about helping your community! Finish the night cooking together at home and appreciating your love for each other.
7. Visit a Museum
If you live in Northeast Ohio and haven’t visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, what are you doing? People visit from all over the country – even the world! – to see these museums and you live right down the road! Spend the day museum hopping and enjoy the range of exhibits that Northeast Ohio has to offer – from art, to sports and science, to rock & roll. Don’t forget to stop by the Akron Art Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, Aquarium, and Great Lakes Science Center.
8. Make your own Art
If you’re a bit of a risk-taker, try making your own art instead of viewing it! Learn to spin pottery, blow glass, or sculpt clay. Or, try your hand at painting pre-made pottery, making a photo mosaic, or follow an instructor as you paint a canvas and sip wine. You could even take a cooking class! You may hate the end result, but we guarantee you’ll love the process! Learning together and encouraging each other will strengthen your relationship while making playful memories.
Not a huge Valentine’s Day person? No worries! The best part about these date night ideas is that most of them are good all year round! Schedule at least one date night a week to ensure that you remember the reason you’re getting married – because you want to spend every day with your best friend.
