What Is Chinoiserie Wedding Inspiration?
Chinoiserie—pronounced sheen-wah-zuh-ree—is a European decorative style influenced by the art and motifs of East Asia. Intricate patterns, delicate florals and iconic blue-and-white porcelain have made the aesthetic instantly recognizable for centuries.

For Chinoiserie Whimsy, Wayne County wedding vendors took that timeless inspiration and gave it a fresh, modern wedding-day interpretation. Classic porcelain-inspired details were paired with garden-style florals, warm gold accents and airy outdoor elegance. The finished design feels sophisticated without being overly formal, colorful without overwhelming the space, and traditional while still feeling completely at home in a modern wedding.
A Blue & White Wedding Palette With Personality
The wedding color palette centered around cobalt blue, periwinkle and ivory, softened with greenery and warmed by touches of yellow and gold.

Plume & Paper | Custom Wedding & Event Stationery Designer in Smithville, Ohio
Plume & Paper is a boutique stationery design studio specializing in custom wedding invitations, day-of paper, and printed details for celebrations and milestone events. We create refined, thoughtful paper goods for clients who value design, quality materials, and a guided creative process.
“Stationery sets the tone long before guests arrive. Our process balances creativity with organization, offering thoughtful guidance at every step. Clients are supported through decisions around etiquette, paper selection, print methods, and production timing, resulting in paper goods that feel intentional and polished rather than rushed or overwhelming.” – Jodi Kennedy, owner of Plume & Paper
Blue-and-white porcelain became one of the defining elements throughout the design, appearing across the stationery, tables, and floral arrangements. Rather than relying on one shade of blue, layers of color gave the entire setting dimension—from deeper cobalt patterns to softer blue flowers and delicate details.
Natural wood tones, crisp white linens and gold accents kept the cooler colors feeling warm and inviting. The result is proof that a classic blue and white wedding doesn’t have to feel traditional or expected.
Garden-Inspired Wedding Flowers
The florals from The Bouquet Shop brought the entire Chinoiserie wedding vision to life.
The Bouquet Shop | Florist in Orville, Ohio
Your florals are one of the most important features of your wedding day. They set the mood and add to the ambiance of your event in a way no other design element can. Whether you want modern, playful, and lush, or whimsical, natural, and wild, we can create florals that will complement your wedding design and your personality.
“Our design philosophy is to capture the uniqueness of our clients in their wedding flowers. We curate our flower choices, colors, and textures according to the look and feel of your event—creating arrangements that make your florals anything but ordinary.” – Tom Poulson, owner of The Bouquet Shop
Hydrangeas, garden roses and cascading delphinium created abundant arrangements filled with movement and texture. Blue-and-white vessels anchored the tables, while large-scale floral installations added height and drama throughout the tent. One of the most striking elements was the lush suspended floral installation overhead in the tent. Against the white sailcloth tent, the greenery and cascading blooms created an intimate garden feeling while still allowing the space to remain light and airy.
And the florals didn’t stop at centerpieces. Blue and white flowers were carried through the bouquets, ceremony design, boutonnières and even wearable floral details, allowing the color story to continue throughout the entire celebration.

The Chinoiserie-Inspired Tablescape
For couples who believe the magic is in the details, this tablescape delivers. Patterned porcelain vases and vessels were layered with lush floral arrangements, crisp white linens, elegant place settings and gold-rimmed details. Natural wood chairs added warmth against the white and blue palette, while carefully selected stationery and finishing touches brought another layer of personality to the tables.

The mix of pattern, texture and floral design is what makes the look feel collected rather than overly coordinated.
It’s also a great lesson for couples planning their own wedding: you don’t have to use your wedding colors everywhere. Instead, repeat a few intentional elements throughout the design and allow neutral pieces to give them room to shine.
