Unexpected Ways to Wear Flowers on Your Wedding Day
Concept, Flowers & Planning: The Bouquet Shop
When you think about wedding flowers, bouquets, centerpieces and ceremony arches probably come to mind first. But flowers don’t have to stay in a vase… or even in your hands. Our Chinoiserie Whimsy Styled Shoot took wedding florals one step further, incorporating fresh blooms into fashion, accessories and some seriously unexpected details.
From a floral bow tie to statement earrings and flowers woven right onto the bride’s shoes, these ideas prove that your wedding flowers can become part of what you wear. And we’re officially obsessed.

A Floral Bow Tie
We’ll start with the groom because this might be one of our favorite details from the entire shoot.
Instead of a traditional fabric bow tie, small blue, ivory and green blooms were arranged into a wearable floral bow tie. Paired with a coordinating boutonnière and classic black tuxedo, it added color and personality without taking away from the formal look.
It’s unexpected, but still incredibly polished.
For couples looking for ways to bring the groom’s attire into the overall wedding design, this is such a fun alternative to relying solely on a boutonnière.

Floral Statement Earrings
Yes, those are flowers.
The bride’s statement earrings incorporated fresh floral elements in the same blue, ivory and green palette seen throughout the wedding design.
What we love most is how naturally they work with an otherwise simple bridal look. The flowers become the statement accessory, bringing color right up near the bride’s face while connecting her fashion back to the florals surrounding her.
For an actual wedding day, this could be especially beautiful for portraits, the reception or as a second-look accessory.

Wearable Floral Arm Cuff
Forget the traditional wrist corsage.
A floral arm cuff wraps blooms along the arm, turning flowers into an actual piece of wearable art.
In this look, the florals travel from the bride’s shoulder down her arm, almost mimicking the movement of a vine. The asymmetrical placement against the lace wedding gown makes the flowers feel like they’re becoming part of the dress itself.
It’s romantic, artistic and completely different from the floral accessories we’re accustomed to seeing.
This could also be a gorgeous idea for bridesmaids, mothers of the couple or anyone who wants an alternative to carrying a traditional bouquet.

Flowers Woven Into Your Hair
Fresh flowers in bridal hair aren’t necessarily new, but there are so many ways to rethink them.
Instead of one floral comb or a cluster of blooms tucked behind the ear, individual flowers can be incorporated throughout a braid or updo. The result feels organic and slightly undone, almost as though the flowers are growing through the hairstyle.
And don’t forget your bridesmaids.
The combination of the yellow bridesmaid dress, braided hairstyle and individual blue and ivory blooms in this shoot is the perfect example of how floral hair details can connect your entire wedding palette without making everyone look identical.

Floral Shoe Attachments
Your wedding shoes can have their own bouquet, too.
Small clusters of blue, ivory and yellow flowers transformed these pearl-detailed heels into something completely custom.
It’s one of those tiny wedding details guests may not notice from across the room—but photographers absolutely will. Think getting-ready photos, detail shots, seated portraits or that moment when you pick up your dress and the shoes peek through.
For brides who love fashion and unexpected details, we’re filing this one under need to remember.

Rethink the Bridal Bouquet
Of course we’re still carrying flowers—but even the bouquet in Chinoiserie Whimsy challenged what a bridal bouquet has to look like.
Rather than a tightly gathered, rounded arrangement, this bouquet was loose, airy and cascading, with individual blooms extending outward and trailing dramatically toward the ground.
Long, delicate stems created almost a vine-like movement against the bride’s simple white gown. The negative space between flowers is part of what makes the arrangement so striking.
It’s less about creating one dense bundle of flowers and more about letting each bloom have its moment.
For brides drawn to garden-inspired, whimsical or artistic wedding flowers, consider asking your florist for an asymmetrical, loose cascading bouquet with lots of movement and negative space.
Your Wedding Flowers Can Be Part of Your Fashion

One of our biggest takeaways from this Weddings in Wayne shoot? Don’t limit your florist to the bouquet and centerpieces.
Flowers can be accessories. They can become part of your fashion. They can replace jewelry, accent a hairstyle, transform a pair of shoes or give the groom something completely unexpected to wear. You certainly don’t need floral earrings, a floral bow tie, flowers in your hair and a floral arm cuff all at once. Instead, choose one unexpected floral moment that feels right for your wedding style.
It’s those personal, creative details that can turn beautiful wedding flowers into something your guests haven’t seen a hundred times before.
