Some love stories begin with a chance meeting. Jacquelyn and Colt’s started with a message, a missed connection, and a little persistence.
After matching online but losing touch, Colt decided to take a chance and reach out again. Thankfully, Jacquelyn was still interested. Their first date quickly turned into something more, and before long, they were building a life together filled with adventure, laughter, and plenty of conversations about the future.
Years later, on their six-month anniversary, Colt planned a proposal that perfectly reflected their relationship. While working on a puzzle together at home, Jacquelyn noticed something was missing. As they searched for the final piece, Colt secretly swapped it for a custom puzzle piece that read:
“Will you marry me?”
And the answer was an easy yes.
A Wedding Day Surrounded by Nature
When it came time to plan their wedding, Jacquelyn and Colt envisioned a celebration that felt warm, romantic, and true to them. They found exactly that at Tall Oaks Resort in Kirtland, Ohio.
Nestled among towering trees and beautiful outdoor spaces, Tall Oaks provided the perfect backdrop for their ceremony and reception. Guests gathered beneath a charming arbor surrounded by lush greenery as the couple exchanged vows on a beautiful fall afternoon.
Shooting our wedding with Julia from Cuff Link Media didn’t just produce these outstanding photos, but working with Julia was just so much fun! She is so nice and genuinely wants her clients to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves! She previously did our engagement photos, so it was nice to have someone we knew also working our wedding. Any time I felt like things were going wrong or I couldn’t find people who I needed for photos, she got things right back on track, or just let me vent about how stressed I was, because let’s be real…weddings are stressful. Julia captured everything we wanted and mad it such a wonderful experience not only for us as the bride and groom, but for our bridal party and guests as well!

A Reception Space Full of Rustic Charm
After the ceremony, guests made their way inside Tall Oaks Resort’s stunning timber-frame barn for an evening of celebration. The reception space perfectly blended rustic charm with modern elegance, featuring soaring wooden beams, dramatic vaulted ceilings, warm ambient lighting, and greenery draped throughout the room.
The couple embraced the venue’s natural beauty, allowing the woodwork and architecture to serve as the backdrop for their décor. Soft candlelight, romantic floral accents, and thoughtful personal touches created a welcoming atmosphere where guests could relax, celebrate, and enjoy the evening together.
From heartfelt speeches to a packed dance floor, the barn provided the perfect setting for Jacquelyn and Colt’s reception. The warm, inviting space reflected the couple’s vision of bringing their favorite people together to celebrate the beginning of their next chapter.

DJs Scott and Jerome with Sound Precision Entertainment were truly a crowd pleaser! There was never a moment that I turned around and the dance floor wasn’t full of people! The playlist matched the vibe of our guests, and everyone had such an incredible time! Scott also was just a fun person to be around, he got involved with us and our guests, and even got to enjoy our wedding. Jerome was so fun and even let us get up and DJ for a minute which was just a fun experience and rehired the crowd when they saw the bride and groom up there playing tracks!

Advice for Future Couples
After planning a wedding of their own, Jacquelyn’s biggest pieces of advice are simple:
- Divide and conquer with your partner. I can’t tell you the number of times I have heard, “the groom did nothing”. My husband helped with so much, as did I, and together we had an amazing wedding that we both loved!
- Don’t fight with your partner when planning gets stressful. Seems simple enough, but truly, just take a break, do something fun, have a date night; anything to get your mind off the stress while bringing you and your partner closer together.
- People are going to no show, it’s okay. The people who matter most will be there, and truly the only one who matters is your spouse!
