boudoirQ+A Q. What is a boudoir shoot? A. A boudoir shoot is an intimate and personal session where the Photographer captures the female body in a positive and sensual way. Q. What do I wear? A. A boudoir shoot may be outside of your comfort zone. That being said, it’s important to feel comfortable! These photos are meant to make you feel beautiful and glamorous in your skin. Wear whatever makes you feel confident and sexy, whether that’s a dressing robe, lingerie, your wedding veil, or even nude. You can get creative by wearing your partner’s favorite sports jersey, leather jacket, work tie, or posing with a prop, like a guitar! Q. What if I’m self-conscious? A. The Photographer poses you in a way that captures the features you love most and hides the areas you’re not as confident about. They’ll direct you to arch, bend, and twist in a way that’s like yoga to add roundness to your booty and chest while making your stomach look toned and your legs look long and lean. Using lighting and shooting from different angles to enhance your beauty, the Photographer will ensure that you are showcasing your best self! Q. What are the details of the shoot itself? A. Typically, the Photographer has a studio and props to use for this shoot, though it can be done in your own home. The shoot itself can take anywhere from 60-90 minutes, not including prep-time. Some Photographers may have a makeup and hair stylist included in their package, or may expect you to arrive ready to shoot. Most wedding photography packages don’t include a boudoir shoot, though some Photographers may be willing to replace the engagement shoot with this. Ask your Photographer about different options and review the details and expectations before signing a contract. Your investment can be anywhere between $500-$2,000 based on hair and makeup, length of the shoot, and keepsake options. Photos by: B, Frohman Imaging + Design Q. What else should I know? A. Lay off the self-tanner a few days before photos to avoid an oompa loompa effect. • Eliminate a double chin by pushing your neck forward a bit and tilting your chin upward. • Posture makes a huge difference in photographs. Stand up straight and pull your shoulders back and down. • Don’t forget to smile with your eyes. LooK your Best In PHOTOS Everyone can be photogenic!
