Nailing your Travel Themed Wedding
Not everyone has a wedding theme, and that’s totally okay! As long as you have a vision and a color palette, your dream wedding will come together. However, if you want a unique, fun, customized theme that represents your relationship, consider a travel themed wedding! You can bring your travel theme to life with some of these decor suggestions.
Invitations
For you, setting your theme starts with a dedicated Pinterest board, and finding a venue that fits. (May we just suggest how cool a boat wedding would be for a travel theme?!) For your guests, though, the theme is established with your save-the-dates and invitations. Consider having a hand-drawn or digital art map with each invite, using atlas envelope liners or belly bands, or basing your design on a passport or boarding tickets!

Your other paper products – like programs, menus, seating charts, and favor tags – should also follow suit. The program could be reminiscent of a guide book. Your seating chart can be on a map of the world with each table having a different country’s name. And your favor tags could look like luggage tags. Better yet, give away embossed luggage tags as your favors!
Adventure
Marriage is truly the greatest adventure and most rewarding journey you’ll go on. As you can see from the photos, there are a ton of wordings you can use to express this! Create a wall with photos of your trips together and ask guests to come up with a date night idea that includes an adventure. Display a sign with the dates you met, had your first date, got engaged, and got married with “Our Adventure” at the top. Register for a scratch off world map, honeymoon excursions, local experiences, luggage, and more to help aid your lifelong adventure!
Globes
Whether serving as decor, a centerpiece, or a guest book, having a globe is a MUST for a travel-themed wedding. (We love how one guest wrote their favorite vacation spot as their guest book comment!) Globes come in all colors, so you can even find some to match your theme! White and gold, glass, vintage, or colorful, there’s one to match any style. Get one in a stationary stand, one that spins on its axis, or a high-tech one that hovers over a magnet!
Cakes
One fun way to include travel into your wedding is with the food and desserts. Serve dishes from all over the world, like grape leaves, spaghetti bolognese, or sushi. Offer customary confections from different regions like baklava, creme puffs, churros, and maple taffy!
If you’re planning to serve cake, this sweet treat can have a travel touch, too. Each tier can represent a different location where you’ve traveled to together. Or, you can have a fondant cut-out of the world! Top it off with an adventurous quote cake topper or two figurines sitting on the world, a plane, or luggage.
Special Touches
There are SO MANY other ways you can incorporate this fun and interactive theme into your wedding! Whenever you make a decision throughout your planning process, ask yourself if there’s a way to include your theme. From the obvious, like choosing your decor and menu, to the smaller details like globe cuff links and travel-themed photo booth props, give your guests an “around-the-world” experience at your travel-themed wedding.
