You might be surprised to know that most couples don’t actually own their wedding photos, meaning that they aren’t able to freely share or print their images without permission. As the creator of the images, your photogra- pher holds the copyright, so it’s always a good idea to ask about their policy dur- ing your initial consultation. Gather details about packages and price points. Typically, packages vary by the number of hours a photogra- pher will be present on your wedding day and how you’ll access your photos upon completion. Some packages may include a wedding album full of your best portraits while others may simply provide you with login access to an on- line collection. Once you’ve drawn up plans with your photographer, make sure that you confirm all of the details of the service within a contract. Make a Wedding Day Plan Once you’ve made your final decision, there are a few details you and your pho- tographer should hammer out together. Decide which shots are must-haves for you and your fiancé, and which shots you don’t mind leaving out. Discuss your locations and, if possible, visit them with the photographer ahead of time to scout prime settings. Try to go at the time of day that you will hold your ceremony/reception so you can see how the light falls. Keep in mind that, depending on what type of package you get, costs will range. Photographers price their work in different ways, so make sure you ask each candidate how he or she is coming up with their numbers. When you plan the schedule for your wedding, don’t forget about your pho- tography. If you’ve decided not to do a first look, make sure you allot plenty of time for a variety of shots between the ceremony and the reception. Depend- ing on how big your family and wedding party are, and how many poses you have in mind, this process could take up to 90 minutes. If your reception is at a dif- ferent location, we suggest scheduling no less than 45 minutes for photos and whatever time you need to travel to your reception venue. ❤ 5 6 7 1.
